Clare gunned down by Tipp in Allianz League encounter

Clare are still searching for their first competitive win of 2015 after losing out to Tipperary in Round 3 of the Allianz National Hurling League by 2-19 to 0-20.

In a game the Premier always dominated, they led by 0-13 to 0-9 at the break, having played with a strong breeze for the opening 35 minutes.

Seamus Callanan was scorer in chief for Tipperary in that opening period, accounting for 0-6 of his sides total, 0-4 of those from placed balls.

The visitors to Cusack Park continued to dominate after the break, and a 43rd minute goal from Noel McGrath saw them surge 1-15 to 0-12 ahead.

This seemed to spur the Banner into action, and led by Clare's Man of the Match Conor Ryan, the gap was cut to just two points with five minutes to play.

At this point, James Woodlock got Tipps second goal and put the result beyond doubt.

The 2-19 to 0-20 scoreline means that Clare are now in real danger of being involved in the relegation battle, with Ger Cunninhams Dubs the visitors to Ennis next Saturday afternoon, and a trip to Kilkenny to come in two weeks time.
