Clare Hammer Kerry

Clare remain on course for a spot in the Division 2 Final of the Allianz League following their victory against Kerry at Cusack Park this afternoon.

The match finished 6-23 to 1-18 in favour of the Banner.

John Conlon scored two goals in the game’s opening 12 minutes, while two more goals were added by Ger O’Loughlin’s side in the closing stages of the second half.

They came courtesy of Nicky O’Connell and Diarmaid McMahon, and left the score 4-15 to 1-06.

Clare added two more goals in the second half courtesy of McMahon and another came following a Caiman Morey penalty, and a mistake by the Kerry goalkeeper.

The Kingdom, playing with the advantage of the wind, had a better time of things after the break but still lost by the heavy 20 point margin.

However, in ladies football news, there was disappointment for Clare on Saturday.

The county’s under 16 side lost out to Cork in their opening Munster Championship encounter.
