Clare Hurling Championship Has First Semi-Finalists

Clonlara and Newmarket-on-Fergus will meet in the semi-final of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship, after victories in the Quarter-Finals this afternoon.

Clonlara’s game against O’Callaghan’s Mills was a tight affair, level at 0-08 to 1-05 with 11 minutes to go.

Conor Cooney had scored the important goal for the Mills, but it wasn’t to be enough.

The 2008 champions claimed three late scores to run out 0-11 to 1-05 winners.

Newmarket, meanwhile, had the better of Tubber in Clarecastle this afternoon, running out winners on a final scoreline of 1-12 to 0-08.

The Blues had led by six points at the break, 0-09 to 0-03, and a mixture of Tubber wides and a goal from Anthony Gilmartin saw them through to the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Clooney/Quin will play Senior A Championship Hurling next year, having beaten St. Joseph’s 0-17 to 0-12.

Doora/Barefield now play Broadford, with the losers dropping to Senior B in 2013.
