Clare's second defeat in as many matches saw their year come to an end in front of a crowd of over 1,100 in Cusack Park.
Two late goals from the Premier men were the crucial scores in the game as the tie was in the melting pot.
TIpp led by 0-12 to 0-5 at half time. but the Banner rallied after the break to cut the gap to three as the closing stages loomed.
Both green flags came in the final 5 minutes, and sealed Tipperary's passage to the semi final where they will face Cork at the end of June.
