Clare Looking For Another Fast Start As They Prepare For Waterford

Clare’s senior hurling management say they’ll be looking for a repeat of the Banner’s quick starts against Limerick and Wexford in this weekend’s All Ireland Quarter Final.

Brian Lohan’s men led for long periods in the first half in their Munster quarter final with Limerick, and raced into an eleven point lead before eventually beating Wexford last weekend.

Waterford now stand between them and an All Ireland semi final with either Limerick or Kilkenny at Croke Park at the end of this month.

Clare selector James Moran says a fast start is something they’ve been working on and intend to continue on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a former Waterford hurling captain says the Deise can’t afford to focus only on Tony Kelly as they prepare for Saturday’s clash.

The Ballyea man has scored 1-45 across Clare’s three championship games so far and is already being tipped as a potential Hurler Of The Year.

Former Waterford dual star Shane Aherne believes the prospect of Kelly doing battle with Tadhg De Burca is an intriguing one.

Throw-in for that one in Páirc Uí Chaoimh is on Saturday at 3:45 and we’ll have live coverage here on Clare FM with Matt Waters Clare Fruit & Veg Market, Turnpike Road, and Geraghty’s Spar & Off-License, Turnpike, Ennis.
