Clare Minors Lose Dramatic Deise Tie

Clare's minor footballers are out of the Munster Championship, after a dramatic defeat to Waterford in Dungarvan.

The home team set the tempo for the high-scoring affair when Joe Allen scored a goal within the first 15 seconds, but Clare quickly fought back with a goal of their own from Darren Nagle.

However, Waterford had the better of the first half, and scored three more goals en route to a nine-point advantage at the break, 4-4 to 1-4.

Clare kicked on in the second half though – Keelan Sexton netted shortly after half-time, before Waterford got a goal of their own, but then Sexton once more and Evan Courtney goaled for the Banner to draw the sides level – Waterford 5-07 4-10 Clare.

The game had one more goal though, and it went to Allen of Waterford who sealed their 6-9 to 4-12 victory, and a semi-final meeting with Cork.

There was better luck for Clare's minor ladies footballers, however.

They beat Limerick 5-7 to 0-6 in the Munster B Championship.
