Clare Players Congratulated After All-Ireland Success

Clare joint U21 manager Gerry O'Connor has praised what he's described as intelligent play from his side as they clinched a historic third All Ireland Hurling title in a row.

The Banner led by 8 points with ten minutes to go, but a dogged Wexford display brought them to within a goal of the All-Ireland champions.

But points from Tony Kelly and Colm Galvin then sealed the 2-20 to 3-11 win, and O'Connor says they stepped up to the mark when required.

Meanwhile, Clare centre-back Conor Cleary says their hard work this year was all worth it.

The Miltown Malbay clubman who hurls with Kilmaley was part of the panel that won the All-Ireland in 2013, but this time played a starring role in the half back line.

Just moments after the game, he said the elation of victory made all of their sacrifices and training sessions worth the players’ while.
