Clooney/Quin secure senior status for 2015

Clooney/Quin have ensured they will be part of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship in 2014 following a 2-22 to 1-10 win over Broadford last evening.

Broadford led by 1-5 to 0-4 in the opening period, but Clooney/Quin secured a 2 point half time lead by outscoring their opponents by 0-6 to 0-1 in the closing stages.

Mike Daffy grabbed a brace of goals in the second half to put the result beyond doubt, and secure their senior status.

Broadford now go into the final round of relegation games, with three teams to make to drop to intermediate in 2015.

There's two more relegation games down for decision this afternoon, with Kilmaley taking on St Josephs in Clareabbey at 2pm, while the meeting of Whitegate and Tulla throws in at 4pm in Sixmilebridge.
