Confidence In Clare That Brennan & Kelly Retirements Open Doors For Younger Players

Confidence is being expressed throughout Clare that the void left by the retirements of both Gary Brennan and Gordon Kelly will soon be filled.

Brennan announced his retirement from the intercounty scene yesterday, with Kelly having bowed out from Banner duty shortly after this year’s championship series ended.

Both players, who have around 27 seasons of service to Clare football between them, will continue their club duties with Clondegad and St Joseph’s Milltown Malbay respectively.

Clare FM football analyst Rory Hickey says their retirements opens the door for younger members of Colm Collins’ squad.
