County Board adopts master fixtures plan

The master fixtures plan for 2012 was passed at last night meeting by a vote of 31 out of a possible 55 delegates.

The plan provides that no  junior hurling or football championship will  begin before the start of its senior counterpart while clubs will only be allowed to regrade up to  four players for 2012 and three the following season.

The race for Canon Hamilton begins at the end of June with  a seven week gap to round number two while Kilmurray Ibrickane will begin their title defence at the end of July or early August

The meeting also agreed last night that extra time be played in rounds one,two and three of the new  senior football  championship format.

The U21 football championship is being proposed to start in September but Colm Browne, member of the structure review committee told the meeting that the local CCC had some reservations about this proposal and it may have to be changed.

The county league will now also start later with the Clare cup beginning in April while the Cusack cup starts in March with no club action at all in this month due to the county seniors sides involvements.

The plan was adopted by members and the next meeting of the board takes place on Thursday week when the county U21 hurling draws will take place  as will a discussion on the payment to managers issue.
