County Board Seeking Extra Week For Football Championship

The Clare County Board is reported to have formally asked the Munster Council for permission to defer the county footballl championship for a further week.

No decision has been made as of yet on the rescheduling of Monday’s postponed Quarter-Final between Cooraclare and Doonbeg, or it’s knock-on effect for the remainder of the Championship.

However, further talks were held last night, involving all five clubs who remain involved in the competition It’s understand that they’ve been asked to give this latest proposal, which would see games put back for a week, their formal backing.

The Irish Examiner reports that the county champions of Waterford and Limerick, one of whom are due to face the Clare winners, will also be asked to have their say.
