County Chairman believes new bye law will ease isolated player issues

The Chairman of the Clare county board feels that the new isolated player system endorsed by the board at last night’s special convention will not be  difficult for clubs or players.

The board passed  a revised version of bye law 7 by a strong majority which was aimed at clarifying the controversial practice of players playing football or hurling outside of their own clubs with neighbouring or adjoining clubs

Michael Mc Donagh-who chaired his first county board meeting as the newly elected chairman-told Clare FM he doesn’t believe the new bye law will negatively affect any players or clubs :

Last night’s county board meeting also heard that a definte start date for the u21 football championship is likely to be presented to the Febuary meeting of the board.

A motion from Lissycasey and Ennistymon queried the start date of the competion in 2012 but the meeting was told that the competiton is likely to remain fixed for the autumn time and not June or July where it would clash with other domestic and inter county competitions.

Requests from Kilfenora and Ennistymon to avoid relegation from their respective football and hurling leagues was also presented to the meeting last night with the matter being refered to the CCC of the county board.
