A trio of points from Podge Collins was answered by a Mark Roche point for O'Currys but Cathal McInerney pointed to make it 0-4 to 0-1 in favour of the defending champions after 10 minutes.

Cratloe increased that lead to 0-7 to 0-2 after 25 minutes, with McInerney, Liam Markham and Ogie Murphy all on target for the defending champions.

At half time they led by 0-10 to 0-3, McInerney took his tally to 0-4, with Sean Collins also pointing.

Eoin Troy chalked up O'Curry's two other points in the opening half.

O'Currys had the advantage of the wind in the second half, but it was Cratloe who were first off the mark with McInerney's free giving them an eight point lead.

Limerick midfielder John Galvin made his Cratloe debut in the second half after his switch from Croom, as Colm Collins rang the changes.

Cratloe led by 0-14 to 0-7 after 50 minutes, and looked comfortable.

A late goal from Jim Downes changed all that and cut the gap to just three points, and when Eoin Troy sent over from a free, the county champions led by just two points with as many minutes to play.

O'Currys threw everything at Colm Collins side in the closing minutes, but two late Cathal McInerney points sealed the win.
