Daglish praises players despite drab draw with Wigan

Liverpool manager Kenny Daglish has praised his side despite a drab scoreless draw against Wigan at the DW Stadium, Charlie Adam having a penalty saved in the second half.

The result leaves the Reds sixth while Wigan remain inside the bottom 3 just one point behind Wolves.

Daglish says he’s pleased his players kept trying.

Despite a stunning performance from former Ireland goalkeeper Paddy Kenny Sunderland have won their first match under Martin O’Neill.

The Black Cats beat QPR 3-2 at Loftus Road , Wes Brown scoring the winning goal.

Manchester City will be top at Christmas following a 3-0 win over Stoke at the Etihad, Sergio Aguero scoring twice there.

The Blues are two points clear of Manchester United who beat Fulham 5-0 at Craven Cottage, Wellbeck, Nani, Giggs, Rooney and Berbatov with the goals there.

United picked up two serious injuries in that game however , Ashley Young will be out for at least two weeks with a knee injury while Phil Jones will undergo a scan today after getting an elbow to the jaw.

In the nights other action Arsenal went level on points with Chelsea following 2-1 win over Aston Villa, Van Persie and Benayoun with the goals , Marc Albrightons equaliser for Villa was the Premier leagues 20th thousand goal.

West Brom beat Newcastle 3-2 at Saint James’s Park while  Everton beat Swansea 1-0, that moves the Toffee’s to 11th.
