Defeat for Clare in Drogheda

Louth hit nine unanswered points to take victory against Clare in the Allianz National Football League Division Three.

Colm Collins side began the brighter and went 0-4 to 0-1 clear, David Tubridy and Shane Hickey with 0-2 each after 10 minutes.

Louth then hit the next four in a row to go one point ahead, before Tubridy levelled matters once more.

The crucial score in the game came in the 19th minute when Adrian Reid finished to Joe Hayes net and put Louth 1-5 to 0-5 clear.

The Clare response was immediate, as four points in a row saw them lead at half time, 0-9 to 1-5

The sides traded scores at will in the second half, with the Banner going three ahead after 42 minutes, when David Tubridy made it 0-13 to 1-7.

This would prove to be the last score for Colm Collins side, as the men from the Wee County rattled off nine in a row to take a six point win, 1-16 to 0-13 the final score in Drogheda.

Up next for Clare is the visit of Sligo to Cusack Park in three weeks time, where a win to get back on track is a must.

Elsewhere in Division Three, Tipperary were comprehensive 1-14 to 1-2 winners against Limerick, Armagh overcame Wexford by 2-13 to 1-8, and Fermanagh got the better of Sligo, 0-14 to 0-12
