Doubt Over Scheduled Fitzgibbon Cup Quarter-Finals

Today's scheduled Fitzgibbon Cup quarter finals look unlikely to go ahead.

The GAA's Disputes Resolution Authority will meet this morning, to decide whether Mary-I can continue on in the competition.

The Limerick college were initially reinstated after I-T Carlow were thrown out for fielding an illegal player, before Carlow won an appeal against that decision.

I-T Carlow are due to play their quarter final with Davy Fitzgerald's L-I-T this afternoon, while Waterford IT are to take on D-I-T tonight, if those games do proceed.

There's also a knock-on effect here in Clare.

The dispute over the Fitzgibbon Cup means that fixture details for the first round of the Clare U21 hurling championship won't be finalised until a resolution has been announced.

The first round of fixtures were due to go ahead this weekend for clubs who have no players involved in the Fitzgibbon Cup Final weekend, but the CCC of Clare GAA have decided to await the outcome of Mary I's appeal before deciding on how to proceed.

It's expected there will be another meeting on the matter tonight.
