Eire Og and Meelick falter at first hurdle of Munster campaign

Eire Og and Meelick are both out of the  Munster championship  at the first hurdle with losses in Tralee and in Meelick respectively on Sunday

The Townies lost to Kerry senior champions Ballyduff by 2-10 to 3-8 while Meelick were well beaten by Dromid Pearses in their clash at home by 2-12 to 0-09.

Meanwhile Kilmurray Ibrickane will have to take on Dr Crokes of Kerry in the Munster Senior Championship later this month after the Killarney side disposed of Ballinacourty in Dungarvan by 3-13 to 0-07.

Crokes Manger Harry O Neil is expecting a tough challenge for the Clare Champions:

Elsewhere and Clondegad must take on Kerry Intermediate Champions Miltown Castlemaine in their Munster Championship opener later this month.

Elsewhere and Newmarket claimed the Clare cup title yesterday with a 1-10 to 1-8 win over Inagh Kilnamona while Gort beat Clarinbridge in the Galway senior championship final by 0-17 to 1-12.
