Fitzgerald critical of referee after loss to Cork

Clare hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald has criticised referee Barry Kelly following the Banner’s loss to Cork.

The Rebels had eight points to spare over Clare, after a second-half performance which saw Davy Fitzgerald’s men score just four points – he says his players are very disappointed with how the game panned out.

However, he’s also criticised the officiating at the Gaelic Grounds, citing the first half incident which saw John Conlon taken off with a concussion as an example.

Clare now go into Phase 2 of the Qualifiers.

Also yesterday, Clare’s intermediate hurlers lost out to Cork in the curtain raisers at the Gaelic Grounds.

It finished 2-13 to 1-09, with Ruan’s Aidan Lynch scoring the Clare goal.
