The All Ireland Champions trailed by 2-7 to 0-3 after just 15 minutes of yesterdays game, but struck for 1-1 in the closing stages to force the game to extra time.
Conor McGrath's goal looked to have given Clare the advantage in extra time, but a late score from Wexford's Paul Morris took the tie to a replay.
