Frehill Pleased With Parish Positivity After Opening Clare SFC Victory

St Joseph’s Doora Barefield boss Kevin Flahive feels it was important for his side to make their mark on the senior championship as they picked up their first points of the campaign.

A hat-trick of goals from Tom McDonald helped last years intermediate champions to a 5-15 to 0-14 win over Kilmihil, leaving the Parish well placed to make the knockout stages.

Elsewhere in Group Two, St Breckan’s secured their passage to the last eight with victory over Kilrush.

Ennistymon got their first points on the board in Group One, as two late goals helped them see off the challenge of Cooraclare.

The North Clare men have games against Miltown and Cratloe to finish the group campaign, and manager Noel Crowe says that’s now where their focus lies.

Kilmurry booked their spot in the quarter finals with victory over Cratloe, and the champions can secure top spot in the group should they overcome Cooraclare in two weeks time.

Meanwhile the final standings in Group Three will be decided on the final day, with all four teams in the group level on two points each.

It’s after Clondegad bounced back to winning ways with victory over Eire Og while Lissycasey saw off a stern test from Doonbeg.
