GAA Clubs Have Their Say At September Meeting

The September meeting of Clare GAA saw clubs have their say on the year that was, while there were also calls for an end to negative comments being made on social media

A letter from the Ruan GAA club calling for a review of Clare's progress in 2015 formed the basis for last nights discussion.

Chairman Michael McDonagh said the senior management would remain in place as ratified at a previous meeting, and that work was continuing to finalise their backroom team.

Delegates also spoke in favour of the chairman seeing out his term, after comments from double All Ireland winner Ger Loughnane that Mr McDonagh's position was untenable.

Some delegates spoke of the need for the review to take place, with Whitegate's Davy Solan saying the matter couldn't be just swept under the carpet.

No defintive terms of reference were established, but the chairman did say a warts and all review would be delivered at county convention

There was also a heated discussion on comments made on social media, with many speakers critical of the personal nature of some remarks on various sites.
