GAA Confirm Gavin To Referee Hurling Final

The GAA has confirmed the referees and match officials for the 2013 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior final on September 8 with Brian Gavin the man to oversee the all Munster clash.

The Offaly man will take charge of the contest between Clare and Cork, while Cathal McAllister of Cork will officiate in the Electric Ireland Minor game between Galway and Waterford.

This will be Brian Gavin’s second senior assignment, having previously taken charge of the 2011 final between Kilkenny and Tipperary. The Clara clubman has also refereed the All-Ireland Minor Hurling final in 2004 and All-Ireland U21 Hurling final in 2006.

Matches on Brian’s CV in 2013 include Clare’s outing against Galway in the Senior Hurling Championship Quarter Final and the Munster Senior Hurling Championship clash between Limerick and Tipperary.

Westmeath’s James McGrath will be the standby referee with Johnny Ryan (Tipperary) as the other linesman and the sideline official will be James Owens (Wexford).

Brian’s umpires on the day will be Michael Gavin, David Gavin, William Flynn (all Clara) and PJ Lawlor (Ferbane/Belmont).
