Galvin could feature for Clare Limerick Clash

Limerick’s John Galvin could be set for a dramatic return to Football Championship action against Clare this Saturday.

The three-time all-star nominee damaged his cruciate ligament against Fermanagh 10 weeks ago, and it was anticipated that he would require surgery on his knee.

However, he has instead been through weeks of intensive rehab, and it’s understood that he has returned to training and will be named among the Treatymen’s substitutes for the clash at the Gaelic Grounds.

Fellow midfielder Jim O’Donovan is also struggling for fitness, but Adare’s Stephen Lavan has told Clare FM that the squad are not concerned about these problems ahead of the clash with the Banner.

Meanwhile, one of Clare’s stalwarts believes the county is close to a Championship breakthrough.

Michael McDermott has never led Clare to a win in the Championship, but Clare have come close to big wins in recent years, most notably against Down in the All-Ireland Qualifiers series last year.

Doonbeg’s David Tubridy feels the team are not far from making a big step forward, and believes the sky is the limit once that occurs.

The GAA have confirmed have now confirmed that the game will throw in at  7:30 this Saturday evening at the Gaelic Grounds with live commentary here on Clare FM.
