In colleges hurling action, both Rice College and St Flannans have opened their Munster campaigns with wins.
In the Dean Ryan compeition, which is the U16 and half age group, Rice College had a 4-16 to 4-9 win over Blackwater Community School while St Flannans beat De La Salle by 0-18 to 1-9.

Ard Scoil Rís are out of this years competition, they lost 3-15 to 1-15 against Thurles CBS.
