Hat trick of titles for Clare boxers at natioanl finals

Ennis boxers achieved a massive milestone in the National Stadium in Dublin yesterday when Keelan Sexton completed the hitherto unattainable 100% achievement of the winning of three Irish titles in a week of frenetic activity which saw all of the three come through nine tough fights for victory.
Sexton consolidated his ‘Boxer of the Year’ status when he nailed Cavan boxer James Laverty with a pile-driver of a left hook to the solar plexus just thirty seconds into the second round leaving the referee with no alternative but to count the Cavan boxer out.
It was Sexton’s third Irish title in as many years and provided the Ennis club with its hat-trick after Conor Doyle 44 Kg Boy 1 and Brian McDonagh 54 Kg Boy 2 had earlier captured their respective titles embellishing the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the club.

As if to embellish a good day for Clare Boxing young Shannon Murrihy from the Kilfenora Club won the 50 Kg girl 3 title with a smashing victory over Shauna Kearney from Bunclody .
Shannon’s sister Kayleigh is also a champion having won the 57 Kg youths title in February.
