World Champion Rob Heffernan missed out on a medal in the 50 kilometre walk at the European Championships, withdrawing from the race with around 10k to go.
He had been in sixth place at the time – Donegal's Brendan Boyce ended 16th.

Paul Robisnon and Ciaran O'Lionaird are through to the 1500m final, while this evenng Mark English goes in the 800 metres final at 5:55.
Meanwhile, the Clareman who is competing in the European Championships marathon this Sunday says his preparations for the event have gone very well.
