Hogan: Tragic Passing Of Niall O’Brien Puts Hurling Concerns Into Perspective

Ballyea manager Robbie Hogan says the thoughts of everyone in their club are with the people of Broadford on a poignant day for the south east Clare community.

U21B championship winner Niall O’Brien will be laid to rest this afternoon following a tragic incident while on holidays in Greece, with the clubs senior championship tie against Cratloe rescheduled for this Thursday evening.

Speaking after their win over Crusheen, Hogan outlined that sport is a secondary concern in light of those circumstances

Elsewhere, Scariff boss Mark McKenna admits his side will take huge positives from their first win in the senior championship for eight years.

Last year’s intermediate champions saw off the challenge of Clarecastle with 1-18 from county star Mark Rodgers being central in a two point win.

It leaves the East Clare men on the brink of securing their senior status for the 2022 campaign, with a final round tie against champions Sixmilebridge to come in two weeks time.

McKenna says getting the win against the Magpies was a milestone moment for the squad
