Hopes High Hastings Will Prove Productive

A former manager of Clare's Under-21 footballers says the pre-season Hastings Cup competition will provide the Banner with an ideal preperation for the Championship.

Following some confusion over recent days, Clare have been instated into the 2015 competition, and will face Laois, Offaly and Leitrim in the round robin series.

Cooraclare man Joe Garry, who was manager when Clare first entered the Hastings Cup, says it allows the squad to face teams from others provinces, which might not be possible otherwise.

Clare get their campaign underway this coming weekend with a home game against Laois, with Offaly the visitors a week later, with the Banner travelling to take on Leitrim on January 24th.

Meanwhile, in hurling, the Munster Junior Inter-Firm Final between Zimmer and EI Electronics takes place at the UL Astro GAA pitch at 7 o'clock tonight.
