Ireland restore pride in win over Argentina

Ireland have ended the November international series on a winning note after a 29 points to 9 victory over Argentina at the Aviva Stadium.

Tries from Stephen Ferris and Gordan D’Arcy, as well as 17 points from the boot of Jonathan Sexton helped Declan Kidney’s side to break-even, with two wins and two defeats for the Guinness international series.

It was a typically scrappy contest against the South American side and Ireland benefited from the wayward goal-kicking of Pumas’ captain Felipe Contepomi (pr: Conti-po-mee).

The former Leinster out-half converted three penalties to score all of the visitors points.

But Argentina will have been disappointed not to have made better use of their second-half dominance before D’Arcy’s late try added a much-needed gloss to the scoreline.
