Ireland sweat on Kearney fitness ahead of Italian World Cup battle

Irish management say it maybe 24 to 48 hours before they find out if Rob Kearney is available to face Italy next weekend.

The full back picked up a Glutial strain in yesterdays bonus point win over Romania and will undergo a scan today.

Keith Earls who was also subbed through injury yesterday is suffering stiffness in the neck but will be fine.

There's good news regarding Robbie Henshaw the centre will train fully this week and will be availible for selection for the next game. 

Meanwhile, Wales are up to second in the latest world rankings – their highest ever position.

Warren Gatland's side beat England 28-25 in Saturday's World Cup Pool A match at Twickenham.

England have dropped to sixth as a result.

Ireland are fourth, with Scotland ninth.

World champions New Zealand top the rankings.
