In the Sailing…

Annalise Murphy continues to lead the standings in the Women’s Laser Radial class – despite falling back in her two races today.

Having won the opening four races, Murphy today finished 8th and then 19th, but retains the overall lead.

Meanwhile, Ryan Seaton & Matt McGovern are in 9th place overall in the Men’s 49er class after 12th and 19th place finishes in today’s two races.

There was disappointment this afternoon for Eoin Rheinish, who missed a gate during his semi-final run in the Men’s Kayak Slalom k-1.

The Kildare man, who finished fourth in Beijing, has missed-out on a place in this afternoon’s final after placing second-last in the semi-final.

Elsewhere at the Olympics, eight badminton players have been disqualified from the games after they were ruled to be trying to lose their group matches in order to avoid a tougher draw in the next round.

The pairings served into the net, hit shots wide and wasted time – in order to secure easier ties in tonight’s quarter finals.

The players in question have appealed the decision.
