KIB gear up for football championship

The race for the county senior football championship gets underway this weekend with defending champions Kilmurray Ibrickane out on Friday.

The holders are up against Cratloe in Cusack Park on the opening day of the "new look" championship format.

The county senior football championship gets underway this Friday in Cusack park with the glamour tie of Cratloe and Kilmurray Ibrickane.

The two sides involved in a thrilling county semi final last season which the champions edged by a point.

Also on Friday in Kilmihil Eire Og take on Kilrush while Gurteen will host the meeting of one of  last year’s semi finalist Wolfe tones and the 2010 finalists Liscannor.

Cooraclare hosts a double header on Saturday as Doonbeg take on Lissycasey while Shannon Gaels meet Kilkee.

Lissycasey sees the meeting of Cusack cup finalists Doorabarefield and Cooraclare with the weekend’s penultimate game on in Cusack Park as Ennistymon take on Miltown.

Round one concludes on Monday as two recent intermediate champions meet in Corofin in the clash of Clondegad and St Breckan’s.
