Kinnerk praises unsung heroes in Clare U21 squad

Ahead of Saturday's clash with Wexford, Clare U21 coach Paul Kinnerk has praised the work of the entire panel in getting Clare to another All Ireland Final.

Management introduced 5 subs during the semi final win over Antrim, while Alan O'Neill deputised at center back in the absence of the fit again Conor Cleary.

Kinnerk says increased competition for places on the starting 15 has been vital.

Those senitments are echoed by Clare captain Tony Kelly, who says the side have proven leaders throughout the squad.

The Ballyea man could become the fourth Clare captain since 2009 to lead the Banner to All Ireland U21 glory, and says the leadership qualities within the squad will be crucial in Saturdays clash.

Meanwhile the man that will be hoping to lift the Cross of Cashel trophy for the Slaneysiders believes if his side can counteract Clare's running game, they can stop the Banners drive for three in a row.

Wexford captain Shane O'Gorman has identified the movement and support play Clare employ as crucial to their progression to date, and says they'll be working to cut out that threat.

Throw in on Saturday evening at Semple Stadium Thurles is at 7pm.

Ahead of that, tomorrow evening will see Clare GAA holding a fundraising 8k run and walk in aid of the U21 squad.

Registration is at Clare GAA HQ in Clareabbey from 6pm, with the event getting underway at 7pm.

Meanwhile, a special U21 All Ireland Final preview show titled the Road to Semple will be broadcast live on Clare FM from Treacys West County Hotel tomorrow evening at 8.30pm.
