Lillis to lead Laois into 2016 Leinster SF Championship

The Leinster Football Championship sparks into life this evening.

There's two first round games down for decision as part of a double-header at O'Moore Park in Portlaoise.

The opening match will see Carlow clash with Louth in a meeting of two Division 4 sides – although Louth enjoyed an impressive league season that ended in promotion to Division 3 for next year.

Throw-in for the opening game is at 5pm and it will be followed by the meeting of Laois and Wicklow, with the winners advancing to face Dublin in the quarter-finals.

The O'Moore men will be led by Cooraclare native Mick Lillis.

Despite suffering relegation from Division Two, Laois will start as favourites this evening, but forward Donie Kingston knows that they'll have to step-up their performances significantly…

Throw-in for the second part of that double-header is at 7pm
