Lions Victorious In Second All Blacks Test

The Lions came back from 18-9 down after an hour to defeat New Zealand 24-21 in Wellington to square the Test series at one-all.

Tries from Irish scrum-half Conor Murray and Welsh number-eight Tauluple Faletau helped the Lions draw level before Owen Farell kicked a late winning penalty.

It’s New Zealand’s first home defeat since South Africa beat them in 2009, and their first against the Lions for 24 years.

Beauden Barrett kicked seven penalties for the All-Blacks, who played for 55-minutes with 14 men after star centre Sonny Bill Williams was sent off for a shoulder-barge on Anthony Watson in the 25th minute.

Williams is the first All Blacks player to be sent off in a Test match since Colin Meads against Scotland 50 years ago, only the third All Black of all-time and first on New Zealand soil.

If the Lions win at Eden Park next Saturday, they’ll seal a first series victory over New Zealand since 1971.
