Lohan Backs Clare Ahead Of New Hurling Season

A star of the golden era of Clare hurling has backed the banner to produce strong performances in 2013, as he prepares to help their first opponents of the year to go up against them.

Wolfe Tones clubman Brian Lohan is a selector with UL, who face Clare in the Quarter-final of the Waterford Crystal Cup this Sunday.

The students will include a number of Claremen who have the potential to be to the fore for Davy Fitzgerald later this year, including Paul Flanagan, Darach Honan, Seadna Moery and Paudge Collins.

After those players tasted All Ireland success at Under-21 level in recent times, Brian Lohan feels Clare’s return to the top division of the National League gives them a big opportunity for the season ahead.

A busy weekend for Davy Fitzgerald kicks off tonight, as he leads Limerick I.T. in the first of this year’s Waterford Crystal Cup Quarter-Finals.

Abbeydorney plays host to their clash with Kerry tonight – the Kingdom are managed by Clarecastle’s Tommy Howard.
