Mary I Out of Fitgibbon Cup, Again

Today's Fitzgibbon Cup Quarter-Finals do go ahead, and Mary Immaculate College are out of the competition.

The fate of the Limerick college had rested with the GAA's Disputes Resolution Authority, after they brought an appeal against the re-instatement of IT Carlow to that body.

The Leinster college had initially been thrown out after they were found to have fielded an illegal player, before Carlow won an appeal against that decision.

That was upheld by the DRA in a meeting this morning.

IT Carlow now take on Limerick IT this afternoon, with a number of Clare players set to line out for the Davy Fitzgerald led side.

Tonight sees the other quarter final between Waterford I-T and D-I-T.

Meanwhile, a further meeting is expected tonight to schedule fixtures for the Clare Under-21 Hurling Championship.

That was due to start this coming weekend, but games weren't scheduled last night because of the uncertainty over whether college players would be available for their clubs.
