Mc Leish to remain on as Birmingham manager

 

Birmingham City have just confirmed that Alex McLeish is to stay on as manager,
despite their relegation from the Premier League.

Blues’ 2-1 defeat at Tottenham meant a return to Championship football at St
Andrews next season.

But McLeish also delivered the club’s first major trophy in 48 years, by
winning the Carling Cup.

Chelsea are on the lookout for a new manager after they sacked Carlo Ancelotti yesterday.

The Italian was shown the door just an hour after their 1-0 Premier League defeat away to Everton on the last day of the season.

Former Holland manager Marco Van Basten is the early favourite with the bookies to take over.

However the agent of Guus Hiddink has refused to rule out a return to club management.

Hiddink is contract with Turkey until Octobery.

The Republic of Ireland squad are training today ahead of tomorrows Carling Nations Cup game with Northern Ireland at the Aviva.
