McDonagh disappointed with start date for 2015 Clare SFC

The chairman of Clare GAA has expressed his disappointment that the 2015 Clare Senior Football Championship wont start until late July.

The committee which drafted the Master Fixtures plan for Clare GAA met with representatives from all senior football clubs, which the view being expressed by the clubs not to start the championship until July 25th.

Last nights meeting of the Clare County Board also heard that no certainty can be given as to when the second round of both the hurling and football championships can be played, as it is dependent on the fortunes of the intercounty teams.

Miltown clubman Michael McDonagh says he would prefer if the football championship started sooner.

The meeting also heard that all championship games in both codes will be played to a conclusion in 2015, while it was agreed in principle that two rounds of the club leagues be played midweek in a bid to relieve fixture congestion.
