McEvoy Says Olympic Spot Would Be Culmination of ‘Lifelong Dream’

An Ennis swimmer says getting a spot on the plane to the Tokyo Olympics would be the culmination of a lifelong dream.

Rory McEvoy is training at the High Performance Centre in Dublin ahead of the Irish Olympic Trials next month.

The 22-year-old will look for the second spot on the Irish team for the 100 metre backstroke event, along with Shane Ryan who competed at the 2016 Rio Games.

McEvoy says it would make training through lockdown over the past year all worthwhile.
