Rory Mcllroy’s become the youngest player to win the US Open for 88 years.
A final round of 69 secured victory for the 22 year old who finished 8 stokes clear of second placed Jason Day.
Speaking after he lifted his first ever Major Championship, McIlroy said that being in contention at the Masters in Augusta helped him to victory in Maryland.

Of the other Irish, defending champion Graeme McDowell carded a second successive round of 69 to finish on two under par while Padraig Harrington had to settle for a 73 for his final round – leaving the three-time major winner on five over par overall.
