McInerney expects tough task in Championship encounter

One of the leading contenders for this year’s county senior hurling title have been tipped as strong favourites for their first Championship match by the manager of the opposition.

Tulla manager Jim McInerney has admitted that his team face a tough test when they take on Newmarket in Clarecastle on Saturday.

Their next games in the group will come against champions Crusheen and last year’s Quarter-Finalists Broadford, while the East Clare outfit are also missing a number of players from last year’s panel

Tulla boss Jim McInerney admits they’re up against it ahead of the clash with Newmarket.

The other game in Group 2 kicks off the race for the Canon Hamilton on Friday night, when Crusheen begin the defence of their title against Broadford.

The match will be held at Cusack Park, and Broadford manager Kevin Sammon says he too feels his team will be outsiders
