6-1 favourite Fiorente won the Melbourne Cup earlier this morning.
The Irish-bred horse came home three-quarters of a length ahead of second placed Red Cadeaux, giving jockey Damien Oliver his third success at the 2-mile classic.

Third was Mount Athos, with Willie Mullins trained "Simenon" finishing fourth.
