Many members of the Clare minor panel were to the fore for their clubs as the county minor championships began last evening.
In the A division, county captain Tony Kelly was to the fore for Ballyea who had a 2-19 to 2-09 win over Eire Og while Sixmilebridge beat Clonlara 6-17 to 1-13 – Jamie Shanahan was among the goal scorers there.
In the other clash of the A division, last year’s champions Newmarket on Fergus were held to a draw by Clarecastle – the magpies were set to win, having gained a five point lead in the second half, but a late point from Oisin Pender made the final score 1-14 to 3-08
Meanwhile in the B competition there were wins for Inagh Kilnamona, Scariff/Ogonolloe/Whitegate, Meelick and Smith O’Briens.
