Neylon Warns Miltown To Be Ready For Championship Battle

The manager of the defending Clare Senior Football champions has warned his players to be on guard ahead of their 2016 championship opener.

St Josephs Miltown begin the defence of Jack Daly against Wolfe Tones in the first of eight first round games down for decison this weekend.

Michael Neylon says they know they'll be marked men.

Meanwhile Wolfe Tones boss John O'Riordan is hopeful they can provide Miltown with a stern test.

The Shannon men narrowly avoided relegation in 2015, having suffered that fate two years previous.

O'Riordan is hopeful they will have learned from that experience.

That one gets underway tomorrow in Cusack Park at 11am

Meanwhile new boys Corofin will have a baptism of fire as they face 2014 champions Cratloe in the opening round.

The North Clare men make the step up to senior after beating Kilmihil in last years intermediate decider.

Clare's only football All Star and Corofin native Seamus Clancy takes the reins for the season, and says they're hoping for a big performance.

That one throws in at 12.30pm on Sunday in Cusack Park.
