O’Connor: Parish Relegation An ‘Opportunity’

A former All Ireland Club winner with St Joseph Doora Barefield says their relegation to the intermediate ranks for 2015 is an opportunity for the club to rebuild.

Jamesie O'Connor was part of the side that won the All Ireland Club Final fifteen years ago, as well as back to back Munster titles in 1998 and 1999.

The club were relegated from the senior ranks of the Clare championship after a 2-9 to 1-9 loss to Whitegate this past weekend, and the former All Star says the onus is now on to bounce back.

Elsewhere, Anthony Cunningham is staying on as Galway manager for the next 2 years following ratification by the county board last night.

Former Dublin boss and ex-Clare captain Anthony Daly had been linked with that role in recent weeks.

Ex-Sligo boss Kevin Walsh has been confirmed as the new football manager on a 3 year term.
