Former World Athletics Champion and Olympic medallist Sonia O’Sullivan was on hand at Glór for the event, but told Clare FM’s Morning Focus she could return to the county this Autumn if she felt she was able to compete.

Meanwhile, Sonia O’Sullivan has also confirmed that she is interested in renewing her role in Ireland’s Olympic team.

The Cobh woman was chef de mission for the Irish team in London last summer, in which Ireland won five medals for the first time since Melbourne in 1956.

While she’s not sure if she will be invited to take the job in Rio, Sonia says its something she is interested in.
