Planned Meeting To Present Clare GAA Strategic Review Findings Cancelled

A meeting to outline the findings of the Strategic Review Group for Clare GAA has been cancelled.

Vice chairman of the county board Kieran Keating outlined at the September board meeting that the plan, which has been compiled by an independent body, would be presented to clubs at Hotel Woodstock on Tuesday October 19th.

An email circulated by the committee to those who had registered to attend the event stated the report would now be submitted to the county secretary Pat Fitzgerald on Wednesday of this week, and this was to be circulated to clubs “without delay”.

The group has also outlined their recommendation that a Special Convention be arranged for November 1st in order to provide a platform for clubs to discuss the document before voting for its adoption.

The full statement from the committee is outlined below

For reasons outlined to the County Board Management Committee under separate correspondence, the Strategic Plan Group (SPG) has taken the decision to change how the Report is delivered to the clubs.

We will send the Report including its Appendices to the County Secretary on Wednesday 20th October, who will then circulate to the clubs without delay.

The Report is then to be discussed by the clubs at a Special Convention to be organised in due course; the date we recommend for same is November 1st.

We trust this gives ample time for clubs to understand the consensus of their membership and will ensure that all other stakeholders of Clare GAA have an opportunity to review the report in detail.

The particulars will be confirmed by the County Board this week and it is our hope that the Special Convention will approve a Five Year Strategic Plan and deliver positive change for Clare GAA.

We will continue to rely on the full co-operation and support of the County Board in organising this in the best interests of Clare GAA.
