Shannon's Chris Bryan has finished in 16th position in his first race at the European Swimming Championships.
The Ennis Swimming Club member completed the 10K Open water swim in just over 1 hour and 50 minutes, and was only 17 seconds behind the Dutch winner.

39 people had started the race, while next up for Chris is the 25 kilometre event which takes place on Sunday.
