Straighten Times Ahead for Clare GAA

The treasurer of Clare GAA insists all efforts will be made in 2015 to ensure expenditure is kept to a minimum.

The County Board ended this year with a surplus of almost €110,000, almost double what it showed last year.

While delivering his annual report to delegates at the recent convention, treasurer Bernard Keane fired a warning that this surplus was part of what he described as the honeymoon period after Clare's All Ireland win in 2013, which he says led to increased revenue from gate receipts this year.

With a €2.3 million revamp of Cusack Park due to get underway in the New Year, it's expected finances in Clare GAA will be stretched, and Bernard Keane says while teams will be looked after, the belts will be tightened.
